The first one in this video is bad because although our bodies are vertical the bar loops out and around us. The second one however is good because the bar path is vertical and our bodies are simply leaning back from it to direct the bar where we want it to go. This method is not considered to be poor separation as long as the bar path stays in its path and is not excessive.
